Ever started an exercise program and quit?
Done a quick fix bootcamp or challenge but just stopped after?
Currently doing a program and feel like the wheels are just spinning?
Never started one for whatever reason and feel like you still really need to start?
To me if you answered yes to any one or more of those questions it is likely because the only thing being taken care of or looked at is the exercise component of your health and fitness.
There are four main pillars to being successful in a good health and wellbeing program.
Movement, Eating, Sleeping, and Headspace. Or M. E. S. H as I am a bit of a fan of catchy acronyms.
I have been in the fitness industry for almost 18 years now and most people in the industry over that time think it is just about getting everyone off the couch.
Yes, that is part of the puzzle for sure, but it isn’t all of it.
That is why we need to do a little bit of deep diving from time to time.
I feel like I have simplified that deep dive by giving you a framework with a solid foundation to base a program on.
I want you to move well, more days than you don’t. And I want you to make note of it.
The same for eating, eat to support your goals 80% of the time and you are well on your way.
Sleep for between 6 and 9 hours three plus days per week to start with and you will be able to accomplish more each day.
Work on clearing/focusing your head and the others are going to be easier.
Exercise alone isn’t the solution.
You need those other three to support all areas of your life.
Now this is actually really simple, but it isn’t easy.
First of all we have to workout what will work for you long-term.
Is the style of movement something you enjoy? Can you keep doing it three plus days a week for life?
Is counting calories and macros too much and you have never stuck with it or thought you couldn’t do it? Once the meal plan runs out are you looking for another, and another?
Is solid sleep difficult to obtain or do consistently?
Are you feeling overwhelmed/anxious/depressed/anything other than certain/calm/peaceful?
If we ask ourselves these questions each week we can see where we need to improve for sure.
But what are the answers?
Well, we have to grab a pen and paper or open a document and get our ideas down on it.
Here is a link to a checklist you can go through to help you come up with a strategy to get yourself on track this week.
With this checklist you can build a map to where you want to go and improve in all areas starting almost right away.
This exercise will take five mins to do. Sometimes it might take a bit longer just due to life and where things are at for you, but I promise that if you take that five mins each day or every few days you will start to see improvements within a week or two.
So I want to know how you go with it.
Hit the link, grab the checklist and then share your discoveries with me.
