Ever thought ‘I know what to do, I just don’t do it’?
Felt like you can’t make progress with your health and fitness because you have been led to believe you are lazy?
Social media ‘influencers’ (I call them Influenzers haha) would have you believe that it is just that you don’t get out there and do it like them ‘with the same 24hrs in a day we all have’.
But you and I both know, they are in their 20’s, maybe even their 30’s, they have no kids, they likely got a leg up from mum and/or dad, and they were always fit, and active their whole lives.
They don’t see how you work long hours, you have kids to wrangle, pets to feed, houses to maintain, and all this before you become a bit social and catch up with extended family and/or friends!
And then it all feels so super hard! Your body has aches it never had before. You don’t have the energy and vitality you once had. That youthful exuberance!
You feel….broken?
Well, don’t listen to the fitspo Influenzer with the air brushed six pack and all the time in the world to make posts. Listen to me! Your local, experienced and understanding coach and trainer.
You aren’t broken, you just haven’t had the foundations laid out to you before, never had them built so you could have the strongest structure built on top.
You need to MESH it all together.
Yes that is a pun and play on words. I built the MESH framework to help people here in town to live better, to be fitter, to be the healthiest they can be. By doing what they can with what they have, right now.
Now I am sure you are thinking, what is MESH??? Well it is an acronym, that is easy to remember so to start with it would be easier to put into our everyday lives.
The initials stand for; Move, Eat, Sleep, Head.
These are the four pillars to our success when it comes to being the healthiest we can be.
I want all of us to have daily check-ins with ourselves, and it is as simple as ticking off these four points on a bit of a checklist.
Did I get in some quality MOVEMENT today?
Did I EAT to support my goals?
Did I SLEEP for between six and eight hours last night?
How is my HEADSPACE today? Am I stressed, pressured, etc?
These daily four questions go a long way to getting us into a solid mindset to unbreak ourselves.
To see that while it may not be easy, it can be simple. And by keeping it simple it is easier to maintain our regime of keeping fit and healthy.
Movement doesn’t need to be complex, over the top or absolutely full on every day of the week. It can be as simple as a good walk to start with.
Eating, also doesn’t need overcomplicating. Fresh fruit and vegetables, a good protein source and you are on your way!
Sleep can be tricky. But with practice and a few tweaks a great night’s rest isn’t beyond our reach.
Headspace will always need to be kept in check. It might be journaling, or doing crossword puzzles, activities like these help to keep the brain active and able to take a break from all the other stuff we throw at it.
It might seem a bit daunting laid out like that, but we are going to take it one step, one day at a time.
Life is more like a marathon than a sprint, so we want to look at a piece at a time, a day at a time.
After a few months all four pillars will be being looked after by you and it will seem like today and the bit of doubt you have is a distant memory.
So over the next few days I would love for you to sit down with a pen and paper or notes on your laptop/desktop/phone open and drop onto the paper or note all the things in your head that you feel you want to do, can’t do, don’t have time for, do actually do each day, things that are cluttering your mind, things that you are needed for.
Well, things!
Write down all the things that are on your mind. Take 15 to 30 mins to do this. Sit somewhere quiet. Phone off, all notifications off. And just put everything down on paper that is in your head.
So that is it this week. This is the one thing to do.
You can do it each day if you like, or every couple of days. As long as you do it at least once this week.
And that is the very start of this framework. You aren’t broken, you just need that framework and someone to guide you along it.
Let me know how you get on, you can message me, you can drop an email and I can help you with any parts that you are getting stuck with.
Oh and you know the best thing about this? You cannot be wrong! Anything you write down on that paper is yours and it is correct. It cannot be wrong because it is just your thoughts on paper.
Don’t wait another minute, get to it and know you aren’t broken or wrong doing this exercise.
